About me

Hi, my name’s Rost, I’m an experienced software engineer with, some might say, eclectic mix of interests.

Rost Glukhov

Apart from ordinary and excighting software development and mainstream IT, I like web, databases, mobile apps development, linux, kubernetes, photography, astronomy and astrophotography, cooking, performing music (can play piano, guitar and accordion), AI, cars, and nature’s beauty of surrounding parks when the weather is nice.

About this site

This site is a systems-focused technical publication, not a corporate knowledge base and not a generic link blog. I write with practical depth about AI systems, LLM infrastructure and hosting, application architecture, data and web infrastructure, developer tools, and self-hosting, grounded in real production tradeoffs rather than surface-level overviews.

The content groups into a few core areas I actively maintain and keep expanding:

  • AI systems, LLM hosting, LLM performance, and LLM architecture
  • RAG, observability, and data infrastructure
  • Application architecture and web infrastructure
  • Developer tools, documentation tooling, and knowledge management
  • Hardware, DevOps, and self-hosted infrastructure

New articles publish regularly across these areas — the newsletter below is the easiest way to keep up without checking back manually.

Newsletter

I send out a monthly newsletter with practical engineering notes and a roundup of what’s new, grouped by theme - so it’s worth reading, not just skimming.

You can subscribe using the form at the bottom of this page, or directly via Subscribe to this Newsletter. Want to see what you’re signing up for first? Browse the newsletter archive.

Commercial Partnerships

I occasionally work with companies building developer tools, AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, and open-source technologies.

Some photos

Here is a photo of my homelab - the trio of little dell usff desktops tirelessly working in baremetal kubernetes cluster on the common goal.

And here is an astrophoto of Coalsack Nebula. Those three bright stars are a part of Southern Cross constellation. Guess which star is called Mimosa? This photo is the stacking result of images taken with the very old Sony DSLR with manual lens.

And here is an awesome photo of a cat, because even a technical site needs one.

A beautiful cat
